GRP boats

GRP works from £33 an hour

GRP vessels have their own maintenance requirements. The gelcoat layer is an essential structural part of a GRP vessel’s construction, providing waterproofing and UV protection to the fiberglass below. This means that regular polishing is required to prevent oxidisation and fixing any cracks to prevent water ingress and osmosis.

From cosmetic touch ups to structural repairs, or for offering advice on the level of care or repair needed for your situation, Richardson Boat Works are able to help with all your needs.

Services include:

  • Cut back and polishing

  • Colour matching and gelcoat repairs

  • Osmosis treatment

  • Structural repairs

GRP works are based on a labour cost of £33 an hour, with an estimate provided prior to agreeing works.

Vessel condition reports

Fees based on a £200 a day

Tailored toward the keen DIY boat owner, our vessel condition report is a great way to get qualified and experienced eyes on your boat, to lift every sole board and look at every skin fitting, test every system and assess all structural indicators.

You will come away with a comprehensive list of everything that has been checked onboard your vessel, sorted by system and priority along with suggested fixes where appropriate. You can then take this report and use it as a to do list for yourself, or for the areas in which professional help is required it will assist with getting estimates for work, whether that is with us or other contractors.

Condition reports can be completed both on and off the water, although some areas to be checked can only be done in either location.

Fees for this service are worked on a £200 day rate, for both the assessment and write up. An initial conversation about the age, length and general condition of the boat should be able to provide an estimate for the time required for assessment and write up.
